“I like” and “I don`t like” in Chinese

 

Sometimes, mastering one or two sentence patterns can be very helpful in making more sentences. “I like” and “I don`t like”  in Chinese are used quite often.

Literally:

  • 我喜欢 (Wǒ xǐhuān)

e.g. 我喜欢吃火锅。 (Wǒ xǐhuān chī huǒguō.) I like eating hotpot.

  • 我不喜欢 (Wǒ bù xǐhuān)

e.g. 我不喜欢雨天。 (Wǒ bù xǐhuān yǔtiān.) I don`t like rainy day.

“中意” is from Cantonese which also means “like”.

  • 我中意。

e.g. 我中意这条裙子。 (Wǒ zhòngyì zhè tiáo qúnzi) I like this dress.

  • 我不中意。

e.g. 我不中意他。 (Wǒ bú zhòngyì tā.) I don`t like him.

“I don`t like” or “I hate”

  • 我讨厌 (wǒ tǎoyàn)

e.g. 我讨厌那个坏人。 (wǒ tǎoyàn nàgè huàirén.) I hate that bad guy.

“like” & “unlike” on social medias

  • 赞 (zàn)
  • 踩 (cǎi)

e.g. 我要赞一下你的照片! (wǒ yào zàn yīxià nǐ de zhàopiàn.)  I`m gonna like your photo.
